Manteca’s 2nd farmers market debuts

The Orchard Valley Farmers market debuted last Friday adding a second option in Manteca for fresh produce, live music and family fun.

The weekly Friday event that runs through Oct. 26 on the plaza in front of the AMC Theatres next to the lake already has all 40 vendor spaces filled. It will run from 4 to 8 p.m. on Fridays through the end of October.

The Orchard Valley market has one certified farmers’ market vendor — Cipponeri Family Farms of Turlock. They will have multiple booths given over the course of the market’s seven-month run they will offer over 80 varieties of tree ripened fruits and fresh seasonal vegetables, including strawberries, boysenberries, cherries, apricots, figs, peaches, nectarines, apples, plums, peaches, nectarines, pluots, pears, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, almonds, walnuts, pistachios, tomatoes, melons, summer squash, sweet corn, pumpkins and dried fruits.  They also are part of the Hughson Farmers’ Market, Turlock Farmers’ Market, and Modesto Farmers’ Market.

The family also operates their own fruit stand from mid-April to the end of October that’s open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at 5734 Geer Road in Turlock.

In addition to fresh produce there will be individual vendors offering humus to olive oils. The rest of the vendors are crafters and such.

There won’t be any food booths as Friday market guests are encouraged to partake in offering at nearby orchard Valley restaurants such as Pete’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Red Robin, Matsu Sushi, Subway Sandwiches, Vitality Bowls, and Tattoo’s Mexican Restaurant.
