The body of a woman discovered in an aqueduct near Chrisman Road in Tracy on Monday has been identified as that of Chenin Carlson – the 36-year-old Manteca mother of two that turned up missing over the weekend when she did not report to a new job in Tracy.

The announcement of the identification of the body was made Wednesday afternoon by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office and came less than a day after the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at Carlson’s home to gather any and all evidence that may point investigators towards what happened to her.

While the Manteca Police Department has been investigating the missing person’s case that was filed when Carlson failed to turn up at her new job on Saturday, the investigation into the identity of the body that was discovered by fishermen on Monday has been handled by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

There are currently no suspects in the case.

Speculation as to the identity of the woman discovered earlier this week was plentiful on social media as stories of the missing woman and the body being discovered began circulating within a day of one another – resulting in heavy media attention on the Fern Dell Lane home of the family.

Carlson’s husband was contacted by a Sacramento-based news outlet on Tuesday and declined to go on camera for an interview but indicated that the family was waiting to see if she would be coming home.

According to the sheriff’s office, any and all leads are currently being investigated and there are no suspects in her death at the current time. Upon discovery of Carlson’s body police immediately classified her death as a homicide but have not released any information about the cause of death.

Investigators are now searching for Carlson’s grey 2008 Honda Pilot – with a license plate of 7FIE245 – that has not been seen since she left home last weekend to start a new job at an Amazon facility located roughly one mile from where her body was discovered.

Anybody with any information about the location of the vehicle, or anything pertaining to Carlson’s disappearance, is urged to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office at 209.468.4400 and reference case no. 20-27205.
