MORE RAIN, WIND ON WAY
Weekend storm caused damage in South County

A tree blew down around noon Saturday in front of the Hats and Boots Barbecue Restaurant at the corner of Yosemite Avenue and Grant Street, uprooting irrigation piping.

The wind and rain that whipped the South County over the weekend downed a number of trees, toppled solid waste carts and did minor damage to fences and even buildings.

The Ripon Roadhouse in the 100 block of East Main Street In Ripon had a section of bricks tumble from its façade landing on the sidewalk below.  A window of the Strings Restaurant on North Main Street in Manteca was damaged from the wind and the Taco Bell restaurant on Northgate Drive in Manteca had its free-standing sign buckled from the winds.

A tree in front of the Hats and Boots Barbecue in the 200 block of Yosemite Avenue at Grant Street snapped off Saturday at noon and took with it a part of the city’s irrigation system.  City crews were on the scene cutting the tree’s branches from its trunk that laid across the parking lot of the restaurant.

And, in the 400 block of East Center Street, a small palm tree snapped off at its base and went to rest against the roof of a home at that location on the north side of the street.

The National Weather Service is predicting another storm coming into the area this evening and lasting into Wednesday with similar rains and winds expected.
