If you’re planning on climbing behind the wheel after you’ve had a few drinks, you may want to rethink that – Manteca Police officer Adam Ragsdale may be out there.
Earlier this week Ragsdale was honored by the Northern California chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) at their annual luncheon to recognize officers that made an impact on drunk driving and worked to protect the community.
With 108 DUI arrests in 2021, Ragsdale set a Manteca Police Department record and was one of only eight officers honored at the luncheon who had more than 100 DUI arrests. Ragsdale was the only non-CHP officer in attendance that eclipsed the century mark, and only two of those officers had more DUI arrests than he did.
And it’s been a pretty big year for Ragsdale in terms of recognition for his service to the Manteca community.
“Some of you may remember that Officer Ragsdale was also given the Don I Asher Rotary Officer of the Year award in May of this year,” the Manteca Police said in a statement announcing the recognition. “He also received a lifesaving medal earlier in the year.
“Thank you for all of your hard work Officer Ragsdale! We’re lucky to have you with our Department.”
The Manteca Police also noted that Ragsdale managed to achieve his record setting year of DUI arrests while working as a patrol officer and responding to calls as they came in – making the feat that much more impressive.
Ragsdale was honored late last year by the Manteca City Council for his quick-thinking in rendering aid to a man that had severed an artery in his arm – working with another officer to render aid and apply a tourniquet that likely saved the man’s life.
