Music for Alzheimer’s raised $18,000 for the cause thanks to the rib and live auction event a year ago. This year’s event is “Rhythm & Ribs” scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12, at the MRPS Hall.

Music for Alzheimer’s is back.

The Manteca non-profit organization that honors the memory of those who have passed on and benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California will be having its biggest fundraiser of the year with the Saturday, Oct. 12, “Rhythm & Ribs” fundraiser at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St.

The fourth annual event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a no-host cocktail.

The rib dinner – as provided by Fagundes Meats – will begin at 7 o’clock followed by a live and silent auction.

Chris Teicheira will serve as the auctioneer for the live event. Desserts will be offered up on the silent auction. A raffle and wine grab will also be part of the event.

The dance is scheduled from 9 p.m. to midnight. Music will be provided by DJ Mario Elias, who is back by popular demand.

Those attending must be age 21 or older.

Cost is $45 per person. A table of 10 can be reserved for $500.

“Our hope is to not only win those honors again but, as our main goal, to do our part in helping to find a cure,” said Georgiann Rose.

Music for Alzheimer’s will once again participate in the Stockton Walk for a Cure scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, at the University of the Pacific.

The local group has raised some $44,000 during past three years, including $18,000 a year ago.
