Manteca City Manager Toby Wells has hired Carl Brown to serve as the City of Manteca’s next Public Works Director.

 Brown’s first day with the city will be Monday, Feb. 7

Brown will be a key member of the executive management team  overseeing the city’s largest department, which includes water, wastewater, utilities, street maintenance, capital project design and construction, fleet services, and parks and building maintenance.

"We look forward to Brown’s energy, leadership, and his impressive skills that will benefit the Public Works Department.," said City Manager Toby Wells. "I am confident that he will bring fresh ideas and leadership to the department."

 Brown previously served as the City of Turlock's Municipal Services Department Manager.

Prior to that, he was Turlock’s Utilities Manger.

He spent 15 years with the City of Merced in the positions of Water Systems Technician, Water Division Lead Worker, Streetlight and Traffic-Signal Technician, and Public Works Manager of Tax Services.
