Open house Monday for ‘new’ Colony Oak
Ripon Schools

A grand re-opening ceremony of Colony Oak Elementary School will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Ripon Unified campus located at 22241 S. Murphy Road.

Principal Cheryl Griffiths and her staff will be joined by district officials including Superintendent Ziggy Robeson along with members of the school board.

An open house at Colony Oak is scheduled to follow at 6 o’clock.

Construction on the voter-approved Measure G project began in 2015.

New classrooms – designed to accommodate Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or STEM – replaced the old portable units.

Construction led by the efforts of CT Brayton & Sons went on as planned with students remaining on campus – they were able to see the work in progress through the fencing following groundbreaking on September 2017.

New water wells along with RUSD acquiring three acres of adjacent land, re-doing the play areas and expanding the parking to accommodate 73 vehicles were also part of the remodel.

Last October, the first of the classrooms were completed with the younger students being the first to transition into the new digs – the move-in process was finally completed in December.

In addition, most of the old portables were demolished while a few were kept for storage use.
