generic crime

Two suspects in a carjacking where the victim was assaulted during the crime have been arrested by Manteca Police.

Those arrested — Artery River, 18, and Emillio Garza, 21, — are facing a variety of charges in connection with the carjacking.

The incident started at 10:30 p.m. Thursday outside of a neighborhood market directly across from Southside Park at 224 Park Ave. when police responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a carjacking.

They found the victim who had swelling and bruising to the left side of his face

The driver said he was parked by the store when two male adults walked towards his gold colored 4-door Land Rover. The suspects walked around his vehicle and approached the driver side front window that was rolled down and asked the victim to purchase alcohol for them, which he declined to do. One suspect punched the victim in the face with a closed fist through the left front window area hitting the victim in the face.

The victim was pulled out of the driver seat of his vehicle and pushed down to the ground where the suspects proceeded to punch and kick him in the face and back. The suspects then drove off in the Land Rover.

Two hours later at 12:32 a.m. on Friday Manteca Police located a gold Range Rover in the parking lot of the bowling alley at 1251 East Yosemite Ave. It was confirmed on scene this was the vehicle stolen during the carjacking. The subjects matched the description provided by the victim. A high risk stop was conducted and the suspects were positively identified by the victim.
