The Ripon Police Department will soon be accepting applications for its upcoming Community Police Academy.
This nine-week program is designed to educate members of the community about the innerworkings of local law enforcement.
Those involved will have a chance to learn about the various methods of instructions via lectures, activities, discussions, and scenario training.
“In addition to learning about law enforcement and community service, students will have an opportunity to explore new career opportunities and develop relationships that will last well beyond the course,” said Ripon police via social media.
Applicants must live or work within the city of Ripon or in the sphere of influence and be at least 18 years old.
A basic background check will be conducted on each participant – no felony convictions, outstanding warrants, or pending criminal cases on record.
The academy will be held from Aug. 23 through Oct. 11. Sessions are scheduled each Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with one Saturday class taking place at the shooting rang facility.
Police are accepting applications from now through Aug. 4. The academy will be limited to 25 participants.
