Two 17-year-old teens were caught in the act burglarizing a Manteca home shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Mezenen Place.

Mezenen Place is located south of Northgate Drive and just west of Union Road, near East Union High School.

Manteca Police Lt. Stephen Schluer said a juvenile in the home had called police and told a dispatcher that his home was being burglarized. He remained on the phone while hiding. The dispatcher stayed on the line until officers arrived with a canine to search the house.  The residence was surrounded by police patrol units and the MPD Street Crimes Unit as officer Daniel Skrimager and Sgt. Gregg Beall made entry with Skrimager’s canine.

Police said entry to the home had been made through a rear window.

With items from the home reportedly already stacked aside by the suspects, one of the teens immediately surrendered and the other was found under a bed, Schluer said. The teens were charged with residential burglary and transported to Juvenile Hall.  The property was returned to the home owner.
