Those interested in replacing Michael Seeyle as the Area 3 representative on the Manteca Unified School District board have until 4 p.m. on Friday, March 22, to return a completed application.

Seeyle resigned last month due to personal reasons. The board will interview applicants and make an appointment to fill the balance of Seeyle’s term that runs through November 2020 at a special board meeting next month.

Area 3 includes all of Manteca east of Highway 99 to the eastern edge of the school district, north to Area 2 and south to the district’s southern boundary. It also includes the triangle bounded by North Main, Louise Avenue, and Highway 99 as well as the triangle bounded by Cottage Avenue Highway 99 and Yosemite Avenue plus south of the 120 Bypass to Main Street and then everything east of Main Street in South Manteca.

You must be a registered voter who resides within Area 3 as well as be 18 or older. Applicants cannot have been convicted of a felony, a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, or any other crime that would render them unfit to associate with children.

There are four questions on the application.

uPlease describe your interest and commitment to the Manteca Unified School District.

uIdentify the most significant issues confronting public education, in general, and Manteca USD in particular and state your position on each. Please describe the ways you feel the District should respond to these issues.

uWhat do you see as the major responsibilities of a board member?

uPlease identify and describe the areas of knowledge or expertise that you would bring to the Board of Education.

 Applicants are also asked to provide three letters of reference.
