Rally Saturday to defend police funding
rally

A red, white, and blue rally is being planned for Saturday to show support for first responders as well as defend police funding.

It is taking place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on the southwest corner of Yosemite and Spreckels avenues where the Spreckels Marketplace anchored by Food-4-Less is located.

Frank Aquila, who is helping organize the event, said the red represents firefighters, the white paramedics as well as ambulance crews, and the blue law enforcement.

“Firefighters and emergency medical personnel are often forgotten and law enforcement is often underappreciated,” Aquila said.

An invocation and flag salute will take place at 10 a.m.  Ted Howze, the Republican candidate for Congress, will be in attendance.

Aquila said social distancing and face masks are encouraged.
