A report of a man carrying a gun while walking down the sidewalk on the south side of Yosemite Avenue along the Curran Grove neighborhood sound wall heading toward Powers Avenue during the noon hour Thursday prompted a lockdown at nearby Lincoln Elementary School.

Ultimately the gun turned out to be a replica toy gun with the orange tip removed.

Manteca Police dispatched officers to the 1000 block of East Yosemite at 12:28 p.m. after receiving a report of a white male adult carrying a back pack, wearing gray shorts, red shoes and in possession of a possible firearm.

Manteca Police detectives were the first to arrive where they contacted a man that fit the description.

Detectives identified the man as Kyle Wilcoxon and noted he was in possession of a firearm and was being cooperative.

Meanwhile community service officers worked with the school administration to lockdown Lincoln School located less than two blocks away.

Additional patrol officers arrived to assist in taking Wilcoxon into custody without incident. The firearm which was reported to be in the Wilcoxon’s possession turned out to be a replica toy gun with the orange tip removed.

Wilcoxon was ultimately arrested for altering an imitation firearm and disobeying a lawful court order.
