The City of Ripon is updating its Emergency Operations Plan.

This one will cover floods.

No discussion was necessary at the Ripon City Council meeting on Aug. 11 on the update and revise by the Ripon Police Department with help from the San Joaquin County Emergency Operations Service and Howell Consulting, Inc.

According to Ripon Police Chief Ed Ormonde, the change coordinates with SJCEOS and State of California Department of Water Resources recent approval of the proposed document with updates and revisions on flood response planning.

He added that the updates and revisions were paid for through a State of California Department of Water Resources grant designed to improve real-time interagency public safety communications, situational awareness and disaster intelligence to improve local flood emergency response.

The grant comes with a maximum reimbursement of $32,000, with no fiscal impact to the City of Ripon, Ormonde said.
