D.A. Wood Construction will handle the work on the Stockton Avenue Rehabilitation Project.

D.A. Wood Construction Inc. prides itself as the Valley's leader in underground construction.

At Tuesday's meeting, the Ripon City Council made it official, awarding the contractor with the base bid contract for the much-anticipated Stockton Avenue Rehabilitation Project.

D.A. Wood was one of four contractors bidding on the project, coming in with the low-bid of slightly under $4.8 million.

Last month, elected leaders approved the funding recommendation for the Stockton Avenue Rehabilitation Project while authorizing staff to proceed with the environmental and design phases of the project.

Engineering Supervisor Elizabeth Quilici said that actual work is scheduled to begin in March.

Part of the reason for getting the project started is the Regional Surface Transportation Program funding of $1.7 million. The City of Ripon was awarded that amount with the caveat of awarding the project some six month from the E-76 letter dated Sept. 9, 2020.

The City was also awarded $2.2 million of Measure K Regional Arterial Program funding.

D.A. Wood's work, according to Quilici, entails replacing underground utilities, sidewalk, curb, and gutter while installing concrete pavers.

In addition, $500,000 from Measure K funds have been set aside for future change orders.
