The City of Ripon animal shelter will be getting some new cabinets.
No discussion was necessary at Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting as elected leaders agreed on a pact with Culinary Stainless Fabricators of Tracy to purchase and install these cabinets.
The amount approved is to not exceed $28,976 from the General Department Capital Fund.
Better known as the City Animal Shelter, the facility at 444 Doak Blvd. has been widely used by the community since it was constructed in 2003.
“There are a number of areas within the shelter in need of replacement, installing cabinets in the food prep / wash room, interior and exterior doors and the flooring in the office and storage spaces,” said Public Works Director James Pease in his council report.
The contract calls for Culinary Stainless Fabricators to install lower and upper cabinets in those various room that are washed down regularly.
For that, staff recommended stainless steel in order to avoid deterioration of the cabinets in the future.
Pease added that staff also obtained proposals to replace the existing doors and flooring and “will present them to the City Council for consideration at a later date,” he said.
