For the past few years, the City of Ripon has been involved in a retrofit project at the Senior Center.
Work at the facility located at 433 S. Wilma Ave. consists of a covered outdoor patio and seating area along with a façade improvement for the front of the existing building.
As for funding, the City has been earmarking funds from the Community Development Block Grant to make this happen.
Because of the CDBG funds, the project must comply with the National Environment Policy Act, according to Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart in his April 12 report to the Ripon City Council.
“In order to cover the NEPA compliance for the project, staff reached out to BaseCamp Environmental Inc. to provide those services (for the necessary NEPA assessment),” he said.
Zuidervaart added: “BaseCamp Environmental has assisted the City of Ripon with several other projects requiring NEPA compliance and is very qualified to perform this service.”
No discussion was necessary as elected leaders gave their OK for Mayor Dean Uecker to sign the agreement with BaseCamp Environmental to prepare the NEPA compliance documents for the Ripon Senior Center Retrofit Project, using CDBG funds.
