Ripon council incumbents opt to seek another term
2022 election logo

The Ripon City Council approved a resolution last month for a notice of a general election on Nov. 8.

Included were two City Council seats – each being four-year terms – and one two-year unexpired term.

According to the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office, Mayor Dean Uecker and Vice Mayor Michael Restuccia have re-upped, with their names on the list of candidates.

Likewise for Gary Barton, who was appointed by elected leaders to finish off the first half of the term previously occupied by Tim Wheeler. He’s looking to finish out the final two years of the term.

No challengers have yet to emerge. Those interested will have until the close of business at Ripon City Hall on Aug. 11 – they can contact the City Clerk’s office at www.cityofripon.org.

The resolution provides for the appointment of the offices “if there are not more candidates than offices to be elected.”

Board President Christopher ‘Kit’ Oase (Trustee Area 3) and Vince Hobbs (Trustee Area 2) are both seeking another four years, according to the latest listing by Registrar of Voters office.

No word yet on the seat belonging to board Vice President Chad Huskey (Trustee Area 1), which is set to expire at the end of the year.

Those interested in running must reside in Trustee Areas’ 1, 2 or 3. Voting is also conducted via Trustee Areas.
