The community is invited to join the 14th annual Ripon Community National Day of Prayer Service on Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. hosted by the First Christian Reformed Church, 305 Boesch Drive, in Ripon.
During this one hour service, area representatives from the Ripon Fire and Police Departments and the Modesto Pregnancy Center will speak about the needs and concerns of the Ripon community. Local pastors will lead in prayer for these concerns and also for our local businesses, agriculture and our State and Nation.
The men’s choral group, Voices for the King, will minister in music throughout the service. Childcare for infants and toddlers will be available and refreshments will be served immediately following the service.
The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, the law was unanimously amended by both the House and the Senate and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on Thursday, May 5, 1988, designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer.
Every president since 1952 has signed a National Day of Prayer proclamation. On the nation’s 68th observance, communities from coast to coast will join in prayer to bring glory to God and seek His mercy, grace and blessing over our cities, states, and the nation. All are invited to this community-wide gathering of prayer and praise. For additional information, contact the church office, 599-3225.
