Vaughan Construction has repaired and removed its fair share of sidewalk trip hazards in Ripon.
The Ripon City Council on Tuesday approved a Second Amendment to the Sidewalk Maintenance Repair Contract with the Manteca-based contractor to continue such efforts in the amount not exceeding $50,000 paid via the Street and Road Operating Fund.
According to City Administrator Kevin Werner’s report: “Residents who are notified of a sidewalk trip hazard that they are responsible to repair may also use Vaughan Construction and take advantage of the (City of Ripon) rate, if they chose, and reimburse the city for that expense.”
Vaughan Construction has repaired several trip hazards – a total of 70 locations – throughout Ripon.
As of Dec. 31, Werner indicated, about $1,223 remains in the contract. Vaughan Construction as hired in 2019 to remove and replace sidewalks with trip hazards. A First Amendment to that pact was inked in Oct. 13, 2020 for the local contractors to continue those efforts.
“Additionally, there are 14 reported trip hazards yet to be repaired,” Werner said.
The total cost of that is $23,630, with staff requesting the latest increase to the Vaughan Construction contract.
No discussion was necessary for elected leaders.
