The Ripon Garden Club’s annual gift of a tree for planting in celebration of Arbor Day is going to Colony Oaks Elementary School. The school will receive the tree today
Meanwhile, the Manteca Garden Club will be planting trees at Woodward Park in conjunction with the Manteca Parks & Recreation Department today at 10 a.m. in observation of Arbor Day.
Arbor Day is April 26.
Colony Oaks will be receiving a 15 gallon “Pink Pom Poms” Redbud tree to be planted in their newly renovated garden area.
The principal of Colony Oaks Elementary School, Cheryl Griffiths, is planning to place the tree right outside her office, near the flag pole, so that staff and students alike can enjoy its beautiful “show” throughout the year.
The school will be receiving the tree along with planting mix, lodge poles for support, plant food and starter fertilizer to ensure a good start in its new location.
The Ripon Garden Club is a non-profit organization that works to foster a love of gardening and helps beautify the community. The downtown flower pots are just one example of the community work performed by the Club. Monthly meetings are at the American Legion Hall at 10 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Guests are always welcome.
