Due to the holidays, Ripon and Manteca have shifted solid waste collection schedules.
Ripon changes
The City of Ripon announced a modified green can collection schedule.
With Christmas and New Year’s Day both falling on a Monday, the Green Cans will be picked up this Friday (Dec. 29) as well as the next Friday (Jan. 5).
Green Cans will need to be placed at the curb before 6 a.m. on the two modified collection days.
As for those old Christmas trees, leaves, and other yard trimmings, the City is continuing to operate the free annual curbside pickup – all items must remain clear of the sidewalk curbside for water runoff.
Do not bag or tie the trimmings.
Palm tree cuttings, tree stumps, and other solid waste items mixed in with the clippings and leaves will not be accepted.
Branches should be no more than 4 feet long or 6 inches in diameter.
This program will continue to operate through Jan. 7.
As a reminder, it will not be necessary to call City Hall to have Christmas trees and trimmings picked up – A Public Works crew will be conducting a pick-up each week and will check the neighborhoods.
“It is not a set route so if they do not pick it up one week, they will pick it up the next week,” according to the website, www.cityofripon.org/residents/city-services/garbage.
Manteca changes
Due to the holiday there are changes to the City of Manteca solid waste collection schedule this week and next week.
Christmas and New Year’s Day fall both fall on Monday.
If your normal collection is Monday it will be moved to Tuesday.
If it is on Tuesday it will be moved to Wednesday.
If it is on Wednesday it will be moved to Thursday.
If it is on Thursday it will be moved to Friday, And if it is on Friday it will be moved to Saturday.
The shift in collection days allows solid waste workers to have the two holidays off.
Leaf collection continues through Jan. 4 on your normal street sweeping days as detailed on the municipal website www.ci/manteca.ca.us accessed via a link on the public works’ page.
The city asks that you refrain from making leaf piles until the day before your scheduled leaf pickup day if possible. Also place piles of leaves outside of the gutter so they do not impede rain run-off. After Jan. 4, leaves should be placed in your green yard waste cart.
