Ripon plans National Night Out party
NNO ripon
The Ripon Police Department is gearing up for Tuesday’s return of National Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ripon Community Center.

National Night Out in Ripon is scheduled for Tuesday, from 6 to 9 p.m.

This free event made possible by community donations and the City of Ripon will once again be held at the Ripon Community Center, 334 Fourth St.

“National Night Out will be slightly different this year from previous years with more demonstration from police department personnel,” said Chief Ed Ormonde of the Ripon Police Department at the recent City Council meeting.

Included will be demonstrations by the police K-9 Unit, motorcycle and police drones.

“We’ll also have staff cooking on site,” said Ormonde, who added that some of the general activities such as bounce houses will not be part of this year’s NNO event.

Last year’s NNO was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will be serving hot dogs, chips, water, snow cones, and popcorn. There will be free entertainment along with tons of raffle prizes,” according to the Ripon NNO post on social media.

RPD’s ‘Unity in Our Community’ will segue into NNO. Included will be Monday’s “Batter Up” event at Mistlin Sports Park – residents will have free use of the batting cages from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Police, in addition, will have a safety presentation on that same day at Chesapeake Landing community beginning at 10:30 a.m.
