The Ripon Chamber of Commerce has pulled the plug on tonight’s Christmas Light Parade

President and CEO Kelly Donohue announced Monday that the annual holiday event is being canceled in response to the recent COVID-19 shutdowns.

"Due to the Stay-at-Home Order which restricts non-essential activities and the recommendation from the Ripon Police Department, we have had to make the extremely difficult decision to cancel the Christmas Light Parade -- We held out hope that the event could happen and even moved the location, but with the current restrictions in place there is no way to move forward," the Chamber posted via social media.

Plans had called for this year's Christmas Light Parade at the Mistlin Sports Park to be a stationary parade – motorists would have been able to drive past the stationary floats during this free drive-thru event.

The Manteca Chamber of Commerce has also cancelled its twilight Christmas parade that had been moved to The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley due to the tighter lockdown protocols triggered by the surge in COVID-19 cases within San Joaquin County.
