The cell phone tower at Weston Elementary School is gone.
The controversial structure was recently taken down and removed, Andy Strickland said in his report at the Dec. 17 Ripon Unified School Board meeting.
The cell tower on the RUSD campus was strongly believed by many parents. community members, and school staff to be the source of several childhood cancer cases in recent years.
The Cancer Registry of Greater California operating under the California Department of Public Health was brought on to conduct a research. According to the report, the cancer cases reported in Ripon – info was based on those ages 19 and under, from 2007 through 2016 – was no different than that at the other San Joaquin County cities.
Plans approved by the City of Ripon calls for the cell tower to be relocated less than a mile from Weston, on a property near Jack Tone Road and Harvest Drive.
Strickland, in his Facilities Report for December, reported that the front windows at Ripon Elementary School replaced during the Thanksgiving break.
During that time, his staff replaced the trees along the amphitheater at Ripon High
