Weston Elementary School second-grade teacher Lisa Dahlin and Ripona Elementary School librarian Kim Camara were recognized Monday by the Ripon Unified school board.

They went above and beyond their call of duty.

For that reason, Lisa Dahlin and Kim Camara were Ripon Unified’s choice, respectively, as Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year for the 2018-2019.

Both were honored at Monday’s RUSD school board meeting.

Their names were submitted to the San Joaquin County Office of Education.

Dahlin is a second-grade teacher at Weston and was praised by her colleague for “bringing a happy energy” to her classroom.

She’s also known for being warm and nurturing towards her students.

Camara does likewise for the youngsters but only in the Ripona library.

She’ll go the the extra mile for students, picking up books for them of special interest.

“I don’t want to let them down,” Camara said in her presentation to SJCOE video. “That’s what matters to me.”

A dinner was recently held on behalf of Camara, Dahlin and the other nominees in their respective categories at SJCOE, according to RUSD Superintendent Ziggy Robeson.
