Water usage in the City of Ripon was down by 13 percent in August.
That’s according to Public Works Director James Pease, who provided the latest water conservation numbers at the Sept. 9 Ripon City Council meeting.
He once again used the 2013 water levels in providing his baseline comparison.
Pease pointed out that water usage was also down by 1 percent from last month, when compared to August 2024.
Residents and businesses within city limits will have through the end of October to go with the three-day-a-week watering schedule.
Included are properties with “odd” numbered addresses can water their landscape on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with those with “even” ending numbered addresses being allowed to do likewise on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
No watering is allowed on Mondays and anytime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
In addition, the city prohibits hosing down driveways, sidewalks, patios, parking lots, aprons, and other exteriors surfaces for the exception of sanitation, public health and safety, and fire protection purposes.
