Epic Academy is being  dedicated next Wednesday.

It will take placed at 1 p.m., Feb. 8, in the school gym at 2760 Penrose Lane in the 15,001-home River Islands planned community in Lathrop.

The campus, which opened at the start of the current school year, was built to accommodate 1,080 students. It currently houses 600.

It opened with students only through the seventh grade. That allowed what will be the first graduating class of River High now under construction to start their high school education together as ninth graders.

Given the high school may not be completed for another year, the campus has space to accommodate 10th graders as well.

Epic Academy is designed to house transitional kindergarten through eighth grade students.

The $45 million campus funded by Cambay Group — the developers of River Islands — includes a multipurpose building and administration building. It sits on 15 acres

The future River Islands High School is being built on Paradise Road on 46 acres.

The campus will open with two-story classroom wings, CTE buildings and a gymnasium.

A later phase of construction will include classrooms and a smaller gymnasium on campus. Also in a later phase, a stadium will be built next to Islanders Field in the future Town Center area.

The cost of the high school is estimated at $144 million.

Camay Group plans to build another elementary school. The work won’t start, however, in earnest until three years before it is needed
