Sierra High is hosting two events aimed at helping prevent suicides.

The first is this Saturday when the Sierra High Student Leadership Class is teaming up with the Peer Resource Class in an effort to help end the stigma of mental health by staging the inaugural Suicide Prevention Walk. It takes place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Sierra High School quad, 1700 Thomas St., Manteca.

No pre-registration is required to walk in support of suicide prevention. The event is free.

Resources and support services information will be available.

The Sierra High FFA will have a lunch available for purchase.

Then on Monday, Sept. 7, a parent night panel discussion will be conducted at 7 p.m. on the topic of youth suicide in the Sierra High Library.
