The Stockton Avenue Rehabilitation Project is heading down the home stretch towards completion.
The telltale sign of that is the recent installation of concrete pavers along South Stockton Avenue, from Doak Boulevard to Second Street.
At tonight’s Ripon City Council meeting, elected leaders will look to approve a change order in amount of $91,644 – payment on this is expected to come from the Storm Enterprise Capital Fund ($10,750) and Measure K ($80,893).
The open session is scheduled for 6 o’clock in the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.
A change order submitted by D.A. Wood Construction – the general contractor from Oakdale was awarded the project back in February 2021 – occurred during the installation of the 48-inch storm drain, with a PG&E distribution line being in conflict with the proposed storm drain line due a 5-foot offset in the PG&E line that was previously undiscovered, according to the staff report from Senior Civil Engineer Sarah Collins.
The other part of the change order had to do with the two properties that previously had access from Stockton Avenue, but lost it due to grading adjustments and the installation of the new sidewalk on the Stockton Avenue frontage. In order to correct that, the existing paved area in front of the business had to be demolished, graded and repaved to meet the new back of the walk elevation.
Delays due to concrete prices increase, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and supply chain issues also hampered costs in the change order.
