35-year-old man shot, left lying on Oak Street

A 35-year-old Manteca man is in critical but stable condition following a shooting Saturday morning just south of downtown across the railroad tracks.

Manteca Police said the shooting occurred at 9:29 a.m. in the 300 block of Oak Street.

The victim was found lying on Oak Street near the corner of Park Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to his neck. He was transported by Manteca Ambulance to a local trauma center. After several hours of surgery the victim was listed in critical but stable condition.

Several witnesses in the area saw and heard the shooting take place. Three .45 caliber casings were located in the roadway.

A red 1999 to 2003 red Toyota Solera was believed to be involved. It was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed following the shooting. It was last seen westbound on West Yosemite Avenue. There were no descriptions of the driver or passenger available.
