The House of Mohka has been described as a hidden gem in downtown Manteca.
Hidden because it’s tucked inside Habibi’s International Market and Deli at 137 N. Main St.
Considered a gem for its authentic Yemeni coffee, unique flavored lattes, and cozy atmosphere.
It was there the Manteca Police Department held National Coffee with Cop Day on the morning of Oct. 1, coinciding with the two-year anniversary of Chief Stephen Schluer as leader of the department.
The City of Manteca – included were city officials and local leaders – honored both milestones with the community at the House of Mohka.
“A big thank you to them for hosting and helping bring neighbors and officers together over a cup of coffee,” said local police via social media
The House of Mohka is family owned and has been in operation for over the past two years. The atmosphere with several stations of chairs and coffee tables provides a welcoming and cozy environment for those looking to relax, work, and socialize.
The staff, based on much of the online feedback, has frequently been described as “friendly and the service is noted as being fast, even when busy.”
The main attraction of the House of Mohka is the authentic Yemeni coffee, which uses beans sourced from local Yemeni farmers through fair trade market.
The unique drink menu offers up lattes like pistachio latte (I tried the tasty hot matcha pistachio in a tall cup), strawberry matcha latte, blueberry ube matcha, salted caramel matcha latte, Yemeni matcha latte, to name a few, along with a variety of seasonal drinks.
Of course, there’s the usual coffee house offerings of cappuccino, americano, and espresso, coupled with cortado (hot chocolate) and a Yemeni cold brew.
The tea choices include loose leaf, iced English breakfast, matcha, and chai.
Let’s not forget about the decadent desserts.
On Tuesday, which happened to be good coffee weather considering the damp conditions, House of Mohka featured pistachio cheesecake, pistachio milk cake, Biscoff milk cake, pumpkin spice milk care, and other sweet treats.
