The City of Manteca’s next free Shred-It event is this Saturday, April 20.

There will be a change in how you drop off items.

Instead of entering the solid waste yard at 220 Wetmore St. via South Main Street, those having items to recycle will take Mellon Avenue from Industrial Park Drive to reach Wetmore Street to reduce traffic issues from backed up vehicles on South Main Street.

Wetmore Street will be closed to eastbound traffic at Main Street. As a result, there will be no left turn from southbound Main onto Wetmore at the traffic signal.

If you are approach from the north or south take Main Street to Industrial park Drive and turn east. At the first intersection past the ARCO station you will turn left onto Mellon Avenue. You will travel Mellon north until it curves west and turns into Wetmore.

The Shred-It event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be four Shred-It trucks to shred all documents. The service is free to City of Manteca residents. There also will accept e-waste such as television and computers. Some mulch will also be available for free but you must bring your own containers.

This will be the 32nd time in 16 years for the free Manteca event.
