Vehicle sparks $65K Manteca garage fire
FIRE WATER

A garage fire Thursday night caused $65,000 in damage to a home in the 1700 block of Mary Augusta Street in a neighborhood south of Sierra High and northeast of Fishback Road and Daniels Street.

Manteca Fire Department personnel along with Lathrop Manteca Fire District firefighters responded to the 8:30 p.m. fire.

The fire originated in the engine compartment of a vehicle parked inside the garage. Although the fire spread to surrounding combustibles within the garage it was extinguished before it could damage a second vehicle parked adjacent to the one that caught fire.

There were no injuries as the home’s occupants were all outside when the first firefighters arrived.
