Manteca Senior Center celebrates reopening
senior open
Members of the Manteca Senior Advisory Committee got together in celebrating “Welcome Back Seniors” event at the Senior Center on Wednesday.

For the first time since the COVID-19 restrictions, the Manteca Senior Center reopened Wednesday for a special lunchtime event.

The City of Manteca facility for adults and seniors age 50 and older held parking lot and virtual events over the last 16 months.

“We were closed for the majority of the time,” said Recreation Supervisor Brandy Clark, who noted that all activities and programs had been suspended until further notice.

All that was lifted on this day.

Clark was thrilled to see the large gathering at the ‘Welcome Back, Seniors’ festivities featuring music, dancing, photo booth (Reflection Photography by Gabriel Ayala), and lunch consisting of free churro, Hawaiian ice, and taco meal.

“This is just one big party,” she said.

For Linda Williams, the special event was a reunion of sort.

“It’s so exciting to be back. I missed being here – It was like missing family,” she said.

Williams has been a regular at the Senior Center for the past 16 years. She greeted by Manteca Senior Advisory Committee member Jo De DeClusin.

“It was nice to see everyone back,” the latter said.

The Manteca Senior Center is located at 295 Cherry Lane.
