Woman dies in crash on Woodward
crime tape

A passenger is dead and Manteca Police are searching for a driver and a second passenger that fled on foot from a two-car collision Sunday night.

The passenger that was left behind in the collision at Woodward Avenue and Buena Vista Drive on the northwest corner of Woodward Park had serious injuries when police arrived. The passenger, a 37-year-old Stockton woman, was transported to an area hospital where she ended up dying Monday afternoon.

The victim’s name wasn’t available at press-time as the next of kin had not been notified.

The driver and second passenger in the 10:37 p.m. Sunday crash fled before officers arrived.

A perimeter was established in the area and a search was conducted to attempt to locate the subjects who fled, however they were not located. East Woodward Avenue was closed in both directions until 12:53 a.m. Monday, when all lanes of traffic were re-opened.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Manteca Police Department at 209-456-8101.
