A 56-year-old Manteca motorist was killed at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on northbound Highway 99 north of Lathrop Road when he entered the freeway the wrong way and crashed into a concrete abutment.

The California High Patrol said the cause of the accident is pending the results of a toxicology report.
