The Maestro is back for another evening of music at the Delicato Family Vineyards.

The Maestro is Stockton Symphony’s conductor Peter Jaffee, and the rare return engagement is a benefit that will make it possible for nearly 2,000 Manteca Unified School fifth graders to attend a symphony concert at Atherton Auditorium in Stockton on Oct. 30 through the Steppin’ Out program.

Steppin’ Out is one of the programs of the Stockton Symphony to expose the youth in San Joaquin County to classical music. Manteca Unified’s participation in this program is under the aegis of the Manteca Symphony Committee which is also sponsoring the fund-raiser, An Evening of Music and Conversation with Maestro Peter Jaffe.

Nearly 2,000 fifth grades from Manteca Unified attended last year’s concert at Atherton, thanks to the Manteca committee. MUSD Superintendent Jason Messer counted the students’ concert attendance as one of the district’s major accomplishments last year.

Friday’s Evening of Music and Conversation with the Maestro will begin with a social hour at 6:30 p.m. Entertaining guests during this time will be the Manteca Music Educators performing an encore appearance of their debut at the same fund-raiser event last year.

Funds raised at the evening fund-raiser will help the school district with the costs of concert admission and transportation for the students to Stockton and back, explained Norm Knodt, chairman of the Symphony Comes to Manteca Committee. The students last year were accompanied to the performance by 200 teachers and parent chaperones.

Those who can’t make it to the Delicato fund-raiser on Friday but would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to this philanthropic cause may send a monetary contribution to the Manteca Symphony Committee, 12001 Highway 99, Manteca, CA 95336-8499.
