Man faces carjacking charges

A 36-year-old Manteca man was arrested on Friday on charges of spousal abuse and carjacking after he allegedly pushed his estranged wife into a bookshelf, took the keys to her blue Saturn and split before Manteca Police arrived.

Peter Archuleta was taken into custody without incident after being spotted by patrol officers. According to the victim, Archuleta’s 38-year-old estranged wife, the two had gotten into an argument that turned physical and he pushed her into a shelving unit before forcefully taking her keys.

He is set to appear in the Manteca branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court today at 1:25 p.m. Archuleta is being held on a $300,000 bond.

Scott Swafford can’t seem to stay out of handcuffs.

After being arrested last week by Manteca Police officers for public intoxication, Swafford – who has aliases like “Phat Kat” and “Godzilla” listed on his booking slip – was arrested again on Sunday for more alcohol related charges, this time for carrying an open container in public and for interfering with the operations of a public agency.

His bail amount was set at $3,076, and as of Tuesday afternoon he was no longer in custody. He’s set to appear in court in Stockton on June 12 at 10 a.m.
