Mallory Lise Myers spent part of her summer involved in the regional National American Miss pageant.

She’s the 6-year-old daughter of Ben and Sandee Myers of Manteca.

“(Mallory) had to interview, introduce herself, and took part in a formal dress competition,” said her mother, Sandee.

Mallory Myers came recommended by an anonymous source for the competition consisting of Northern California girls’ ages 4-6.

Dr. Raymond and Victoria Mu of Kaiser Permanente served as her sponsor.

The two-day event was held July 19-20 at the Doubletree Hotel in Modesto.

Out of the 70 in the Princess division, Mallory Myers was among the top 10 finishers. “We were really excited for her,” said Sandee Myers, who added that her daughter was the only girl in her age division from Manteca.

Mallory Myers will be a first-grade student at the Great Valley Academy.

Sandee Myers indicated the competition was based on poise and confidence. “It was a natural pageant, meaning no swim suit (competition) or wearing of any make up,” she said.

Those involved in the National American Miss event were first screened via a phone interview, with the entire entry going before a selection committee.

As for the winners of the regional competition, they advance to the state competition scheduled for Thanksgiving week at Disneyland in Anaheim.
