The annual Christmas tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled to be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, in front of Manteca City Hall at 1001 West Center St.

The Manteca Senior Center Advisory Committee and the Manteca Parks and Recreation Department are hosting the event at 6:30 p.m. that’s billed as “an excellent family activity.”

Community members are urged to bring their homemade or store bought ornaments to personally hang on the official city Christmas tree making it even more a family affair.

Santa, a community sing-along and a variety of entertainment is on tap at the Senior Center building directly behind city hall at 295 Cherry Lane immediately after the lighting ceremony.

Santa is going to have a gift for each child and there will be cookies and hot chocolate for everyone. There is no charge for the celebration that is designed to set the yuletide spirit for everyone. For additional information call the Senior Center at 456-8650.
