A Manteca couple lost their lives Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision near Jamestown that also claimed the life of a Roseville motorist.

Alan Madeiros, 59, and his 65-year-old wife Kathleen, were killed when their westbound 2000 Toyota reportedly drifted over the center line of Highway 120 just west of Highway 108 and into the path of an eastbound 1999 Acura, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

Claude Gosselin, 55, of Roseville, had to be extricated from his vehicle by firefighters and was pronounced dead at the scene as was the Manteca couple.  A passenger in her husband’s car, Rose Gosselin, 51, was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center with major injuries, according to the CHP.

Neither driver had time to take evasive action and both vehicles collided head-on, the report stated.  Both vehicles were estimated to have been traveling about 50 to 55 miles an hour at the time of the crash.

The highway was shut down for some 30 minutes during the extrication procedures and one-way traffic was in effect for approximately an hour until the roadway could be cleared of debris.
