An 81-year-old Manteca woman sustained fatal injuries in a 7 a.m. Wednesday crash while driving her 2007 Ford sedan at Louise Avenue and Jack Tone Road, according to a CHP report.

She had reportedly stopped for traffic in an eastbound direction on Louise Avenue when a southbound pickup truck made a left turn in front of her as she began to enter the intersection and the southbound lanes.   She may have had her attention diverted to an oncoming southbound 2012 vehicle by the turning pickup truck, according to the CHP.

The woman’s car was struck in the driver’s door by a 27-year-old Ripon motorist who was reportedly approaching southbound on Jack Tone Road in a 2012 Ford, on her way to work.

Both vehicles slid in a southeasterly direction on Jack Tone Road ending up in bushes and trees alongside the roadway, according to the report.

The injured Riponite was transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto and later transferred to Kaiser Modesto where she remained on Saturday. Passing motorists stopped at the crash scene to render aid, police said.

CHP Officer James Smith said the name of the deceased motorist will be released by the coroners’ office this week.
