This is no April Fool’s joke.
On Wednesday, April 1, Manteca High School students will be unleashing their artistic juices during the day. The occasion is the annual Day of the Arts on campus. The event is now running for six years in a row.
The public will be able to view the students’ artistic creations in the evening when the fruits of the artistic labors will be on display in the gym from 5 to 7 p.m., according to Multimedia/Video Production & Digital Photography teacher Carol Creighton. There is no admission fee.
In the past, this event has been presented as the Day of the Writer with students taking chalk and scribbling their written creations on the sidewalk by the front office. Some students painted their “found poems” on sheets of plywood.
Not just the students but teachers, members of the school staff and administrative personnel have always been invited to participate in the creative activities. In past events, the day’s activities included a contest. This is what happened in 2012 when a writing contest was held during the Day of the Writer.
