Elvis lives.

Not really, but his spirit certainly does in the Manteca High Thespian Club production of “All Shook Up.”

According to club advisor Dawn Coyan, this latest play is based on the same musical that took Broadway by storm.

“All Shook Up” is described as a jukebox musical with Elvis Presley songs. It was influenced by the book by Joe DiPietro, and based on William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

Patrick Ho is in the lead role of Chad, a hip-swiveling, guitar-playing roustabout released from prison in a setting somewhere in the Midwest during the 1950s.

Coyan, who is also director, said this production consists of about 24 members from her Thespian Club.
“All Shook Up” cruises into the MHS Mulvihill Theatre, from March 18 through 20.

Showtime is 7 p.m.

The play tells the romantic tale of a young girl’s dream comes true while fueled by a catalogue of songs by the King of Rock.

Included are “Jailhouse Rock,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “That’s All Right,” “Love Me Tender,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Can’t  Help Falling in Love,” and, of course, “All Shook Up.”

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students, and can be purchased at the door.
