Manteca mayor, council forum set for Wednesday

A candidate’s forum featuring the candidates seeking election Nov., 2 to the Manteca City Council as well as the mayor’s post takes place Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the council chambers at the Civic Center, 1001 W. Center St.

It will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The forum will be broadcast live on Comcast Channel 97.

The candidates’ forum is being co-sponsored by the San Joaquin County League of Women Voters and the Manteca Bulletin. The League will hand out the “Easy Voters Guide” which summarizes the state ballot measures as well as a listing of all of the candidates for major officers at the state and federal level.

Bulletin Managing Editor Dennis Wyatt will pose questions for the candidates.

There are four candidates running for mayor. They are incumbent Willie Weatherford, former mayor Carlon Perry, council member Debby Moorhead, and retired city senior planner Ben Cantu. There are two seats on the council open. Running are incumbents Vince Hernandez and John Harris as well as challengers Samuel Anderson and Richard Behling.
