A corporate product manager who turned to “just family cooking” when she lost her job in the economic downturn in February is one of three finalists in the Hungry Jack National Recipe Contest.

“It’s like playing Lotto,” she quipped.  “If you don’t play, you can’t win!”

Suzanne Forsberg – currently a fulltime Manteca mom and housewife – has been scheduled on two television broadcasts demonstrating her “out of the box” recipe for sweet and savory ham and cheese Monte Cristo crepes.

She was live on Fox 40 last week and will be on Good Day Sacramento at 8 a.m. this Friday with her stove top demonstration.  She said the thrust of the contest is to show how the boxed Hungry Jack mix can be used for something other than mashed potatoes and pancakes – really cooking outside the box.

Her recipe calls for ham and Gruyere cheese and mustard glaze that fill the crepes topped off with maple syrup.  The hot crepes are folded over and heated until the cheese begins to melt.

On-line voting is next to determine the winner of the contest who will receive free groceries for a year in the form of a $6,000 check.  Her demonstration on Fox 40 can be viewed by going to Http://www.fox40.com/videobeta/watch/?watch=3dcda773-edde-48b8-bb3f-d35e1759e8fb&src=front.
The online voting is at: http://www.hungryjack.com/promotions/UseUpTheBox/VoteLanding.aspx.

Suzanne was notified by Hungry Jack in November that she is one of three finalists nationwide – two from California.  Hungry Jack has two other separate categories in their contest with a winner scheduled in each of those areas.
