The Manteca Patriots will dedicate their Thursday, Sept. 12, meeting to a solemn remembrance of those who tragically lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 and as a grateful tribute to our courageous first responders both then and around us today.

The meeting will feature speakers, music, and visual aids to help remember the events and sacrifices of that day. The attacks were a series of four coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaida on the United States. The hijackers intentionally crashed two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, and a third plane was crashed into the Pentagon. Hijackers had redirected a fourth plane toward Washington, D.C., but crashed it in a field in Pennsylvania after passengers tried to take control of the plane. All together, nearly 3,000 victims and the 19 hijackers died in the attacks.
Doors open at 7 p.m. There will be informative displays providing the 9/11 background available to browse before the meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at Chez Shari (at the Manteca Golf Course)  on North Union Road.

Everyone is welcome at this free remembrance. It will be devoid of politics. While we will exclude some of the most disturbing images of that fateful day, parental discretion is advised.
