Manteca Soroptimist yard sale takes place Saturday

The women of the Manteca Soroptimists are offering an outstanding list of specialty items at their annual yard sale set for Saturday in the parking lot of the Bank of Stockton on North Main Street in Manteca.

Those purchasing the unusual gifts will be able to use the ATM machines at the nearby banking facility when in need of extra cash to help support the humanitarian efforts of the international Soroptimists.

Two Judys are in charge of the sale that begins at 8 a.m. and runs until at least 2 in the afternoon.  Judy Abrew and Judy Vasquez promise to stay beyond closing time should the crowd of people continue to browse through their wares.

Soroptimist efforts locally include high school scholarships, teen crisis counseling, and for the support of the Raymus House through their holiday parties for families living there.  Art in the Park, Give Every Child a Chance and recognizing outstanding high school girls of the month are among the group’s activities.

While Soroptimists has traditionally been an exclusive women’s business and professional  organization, there is one man in membership in the city of Burlingame who has worked diligently to support the tenets of the movement.
