Manteca trying to revive Are You OK?

Home-bound seniors in Manteca still living independently will benefit from efforts to bring back the RUOK (Are You OK) program.

A spaghetti dinner is being conducted on Monday, March 8, at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane.

The Manteca Senior Advisory Committee and the Manteca Police Department’s Seniors Helping Area Residents and Police unit are hosting the dinner.

They need to raise $1,500 for software to reinstate the RUOK program. The program is a telephone reassurance service designed to check on the well being of home-bound seniors living independently. A call is made automatically every day at a pre-agreed upon time. If the call isn’t picked up, a volunteer will go to the home to check on the senior.

Tickets are $8 per person and can be purchased at the Senior Center. For more information contact John Boore at 456-8628.
